How much damage can termites cause?
Even though they’re small, termites cause billions of dollars worth of destruction every year. Because they feed on wood, termite colonies can bore holes in just about every structure within a home, as well as insulation, books and other paper, shrubbery, pool liners, filtration systems, and other possessions. These pests are irritating, unsightly, and downright dangerous.
How will I know if my home is infested?
Because termites are small, winged insects, it is sometimes hard to distinguish them from ants at first glance. Ants have a slender waist, while termites have a more broad midsection. A termite’s antennae are also straight, and their wings extend the full length of their bodies. Both ants and termites tend to swarm in the springtime to mate and form new colonies. If you have noticed just a few of these intruders in or near your home, it’s only a matter of time before they spawn and expand their colonies. These swarms often form near windows or doorways.

There are two primary signs of a termite infestation. The first is small, saw-dust like droppings suddenly appearing underneath wooden structures and objects in your home. Another sign of infestation is the formation of mud tubes along the walls, beams, or floorboards of a home. If you break the tube open and find a number of white insects, those are worker termites building the tunnel along the wall between the colony’s underground nest and the structure that they feast on. These tubes are a sure sign of infestation and can lead to a damaged structure. If you see mud tubes or sawdust in your home, you have a problem.
How do I get rid of them?
Because termites form large, stubborn colonies that can cause structural damage to a building, there’s only one solution: contact full-service pest control services.

Termites require specially formulated solutions and equipment to be killed and eliminated from a structure. Termiticides can last for a few years at a time, but must be applied thoroughly by professional exterminators to ensure the best coverage.
